    Another was at an Interior Decoration place where the guy put my name in his phone and told me I'd receive a call.

    Lol are you really just going physically from place to place? That is so outdated. I did that for my first job and they kept telling me again and again to apply online, or would give me an application in store anyway and then make me wait.
    
    You should be applying online and calling the next day to schedule an interview. It's much easier and quicker than going place to place and hoping you'll run into the hiring manager.
