    I wonder how hard it would be to add some HTTP web hooks somehow...
    
    I mean, a crude event-loop based post monitor could be written in a handful of lines of code, but it could also become computationally expensive (especially in terms of bandwidth/traffic if lots of people are using the same thing).

    Well, I technically did write a "notifications" script... of sorts...
    
    It detected any new post (checking on like an every second or every 5 seconds kind of cycle), and automatically responded with "THE ABOVE POSTER IS A CERTIFIED FAGGOT".
    
    Instead of just calling everybody a faggot, I could have modified like one single line of code and had it send push notifications to email, SMS, or even Android/iOS directly (a little bit more involved, but definitely feasible).
    
    So basically, I could have notifications if I wanted them...

    Actually me too... The closest thing I have to "social media" is my interactions with this site. No facebook, twitter, instagram, any of that. Got no use for it really.
    
    But I suppose if I had made a thread especially personally significant, I might see the value of thread-specific notifications.
    
    Now, every-single-new-post notifications? That'd get tiring pretty quick around here, and we don't even have unruly amounts of traffic.
