   Actually to be totally honest, I never really put much thought into this question. But I imagine there's some kind of inexpensive heat sensor.
   
   Does it give the precision of actual degrees? Or does it just say "hot, hotter, too hot" kinda thing?
   
   There might even be a thermometer in there. They aren't all glass tubes with mercury in them.
   
   I have an infrared "point-and-shoot" thermometer, for example.
