Amazon has announced that they are pulling out of building a distribution center in NY. The protests started with the DNC darling AOC. She can kiss a re-election goodbye! HaHaHaHa! Even her leftists supporters are pissed. They keep eating their own.

New York is already too expensive to live in. AOC's base aren't idiots, and know that they are better off without all that yuppie competition for accomodation and transport.

The income tax alone that would have gone to NY would have been in the $20B range. Yea, they are pissed.

Bezos just broke the 100 billion personal net worth barrier, but he doesn't want to have pay any taxes, so he grabbed his ball and sulked all the way home with it.

Amazon is another of those companies that is really horrible to work for and burn through employees really quickly.

Hmmm that’s strange, they put 2 distribution centers here and people love working there. You can find digruntled employees everywhere.

It's likely Amazon never intended to open an HQ in NY anyway; their original goal was to make states compete for the 'privilege' of having it, and ended up accepting offers from two states, the other being Virginia I think. A large part of the 'bidding war' wasn't even for the incentives, but to force states who wanted to participate to give up planning data - it's possible they never intended to set up shop in NY but wanted as much data as they could get on their competitors and/or the market there.
and people have problems when china subsidize their tech industries.

it's always been capitalism for the poor, socialism for the rich - once corporations grow to a certain point, they become able to effectively use the government to benefit themselves and hinder their competition.
further to that, the largest corporations (think Google, Apple, Amazon etc.) are propped up by the government through things like bailouts, tax concessions and being
literally immune to prosecution because their geopolitical value; their ability to hinder competition and project economic power on the international scale, is a valuable tool for the state to maintain dominance over other nations.

Uh Specs,
I like you too kid. But, you say the looniest, out of left field shit, in just about every post you make.
And, uh, yes I DO KNOW. They put 2 distribution centers around here, lots of people I KNOW work there. The things I stated came straight from the workers mouths. Go on silly goose!
