2019-02-03 at 9:39 PM UTCSo i use Geany to code pretty much but for NSIS and PowerShell i downloaded VS Code. It's pretty fucking decent, not as heavy as Visual Studio because fuck that noise anyway and kind of works more like an IDE instead of an elaborate text editor, plus it works on Linux as well, which is great. So i thought alright, that's pretty fucking neat. So i got to browsing the downloadable Extensions, which are plentiful and got one for a dot NET language, IIRC C#, not that i know much about it but VS Code actually has extensions that help you learn the language you're working with better. So far so good. I download the thing, then it tells me i need to be signed in to Azure to have the Extension work. So i' m like alright fine, so i go to MS' website sign up for a free account, since they were promoting Azure to try for free, no strings attached. Then i get done with the registration, then they tell me oh yeah you need another account for Azure services. But it's going to be great you'll have cloud computing, with plugins for VMs and all this cool stuff like compiling Windows binaries from your VS Code -> api -> Azure setup. So i'm like, dang. Then they ask me for literally all my personal information at the second sign up. I make up some bullshit, then i have to enter my BIC info or whatever. It's like your international tax number for VAT and whatever. But i' m like, i was trying this shit for free right? You said a year right fucking MS? Might have wanted to tell me it was a service oriented towards enterprises before i went through all this bullshit.
I said, well fuck you and your shenanigans MS, so i looked up how international tax numbers work right. And i'm like alright, steal a number from a well known company and run some mutations on it right? Nope, apparently they check the tax number live to the info you provided and some sort of database. So i' m like motherfuckers...
I open the developer/network/whatever tab in FF to check out the source code right? And it's literally a mile long of heavily obfuscated javascript and the only flavor of JS i can read is fucking Node. So after staring blankly at the jumble of characters on my screen and fucking around with some parameters and values for a good couple of hours i just flipped my desk in frustration and thought. "You win this time Micrococks".
tl;dr
Micro$oft lured me in with the promise of Azure then rekt me. -

BIC
A BIC (Bank Identifier Code) is the SWIFT Address assigned to a bank in order to send automated payments quickly and accurately to the banks concerned. It uniquely identifies the name and country, (and sometimes the branch) of the bank involved. BICs are often called SWIFT Codes and can be either 8 or 11 characters long.
Bank of Ireland’s BIC is BOFIIE2D
BIC is a bank transfer thing. There's AFAIK no way to check bank account numbers against ownership. -

Wrong kind of bank thing then, it had something to do with international taxes but i forget the exact term. It's kind of like the number you have to use to register your business with the government. -

Like a VAT number? They must make some provision for sole-traders or companies with no VAT registration. -

It's called a KVK(Kamer Van Koophandel[Chamber of Commerce]) number in dutch and i am not allowed to operate a business without one in my country. -
2019-02-03 at 10:09 PM UTCOh and there's different rules for how you express the number for it to be equivalent to a VAT number for international trade.

2019-02-03 at 10:13 PM UTCOh a company registration number? Then why not pick some random company and steal their identity.
Although that's a shitload of work for a worthless Azure free-trial.
You can always start your own business and get a registration number. The fee here is about €80 for doing so. -

Same. And i tried to use other company's identities but it wouldn't let me. Not even after i ran several mutations on them. Also, the way they were talking about Azure didn't make it sound shitty at all. Sounded pretty fucking awesome actually. -

Dunno what you mean. Yeah, you should be on the cloud, you can't compare cloud native to VPS or shared hosting or any of the legacy shit.
AWS is probably still better, or maybe Google Cloud.
Azure do really generous deals for new customers though, as Microsoft are going hard on trying to build and grow the Azure business unit. -

Eh, i'll see. If i am actually going to pay money i think i'd try Azure anyway. -

Google Azure Free Trial or something before you sign up.
Found this.

Never sign up for any of this shit unless you're getting something for free for doing so. -

Thanks for the tip. I was going to sign up for the trial anyway if i was going to potentially spend money on anything. I should have worded my post better. -
