   A Russian fighter jet has been filmed forcing a US F-15 to turn away and change course by flying dangerously close to the American aircraft.
   
   In footage circulating on Russian social media, the Su-27 fighter comes into frame and makes a sharp left to bank across the F-15 from the side.
   
   The US-made plane has no choice but to move out of the way as the Russian jet came within feet of hitting it.
   
   The Pentagon said that a Russian jet came dangerously close to one of its fighters over the Black Sea on Monday.

   I dunno, if they were really like the guys from Top Gun today, I'd expect at least a few crashes as a result of those dudes trying to send dick pics to each other in the cockpit.

   100% seriously, the Black Sea is literally a Russian lake. Even if there were a carrier group there it wouldn't be enough to 'project power' - provocations there are suicidal, and I have no doubt some of these 'close calls' were in fact intended as provocations, but the actual pilots back down because they're not willing to die just to escalate the conflict.
   
   This isn't without precedent either - it's literally what happened in the recent Ukrainian incursion into the Azov Strait. The two gunships that entered (two gunships and one tug were stopped and captured by the Russian navy) were initially ordered to make their way to the newly completed Crimea-Russia bridge, but SBU units were embedded in the ships' crews, and once the ships were intercepted, the SBU officers ordered the captains to engage. Neither captain followed the order knowing that it was suicide for them and their crews, and one was shot (non-fatally) by an SBU officer for disobedience.
   
   The ships' crews were tricked and their true orders not revealed until the last moment - thankfully they refused, otherwise it would've ended up much worse.
