Will those gift cards be deactivated?
What if they were bought via debit card as opposed to credit, does it matter?

[my enumerable hindi guideword]
It's like "whack a mole", if they can identify that gift cards were purchased fraudulently or with fraudulent means, they will deactivate them as discovered. That said, they are sometimes slow to this and it could take a long time. I suppose the method to the madness is buy as many as you can while you have the funds and the ones that get whacked, get whacked. The ones that don't, will in due time, so GET THAT WISH LIST TOGETHER.

I think its up to the retailer and also depends on how they were fraudulently purchased. Sometimes victims don't get their monez back.
Mine have been working...(;
