What I'm suggesting is that all of you and myself start creating web 1.0 style websites and revive the feeling of the old net.
This could be a new thing, an internet where only people who truly wish to be there are.
A net separate from the mainstream network of planet earth.
Since the bandwidth would be pretty small due to the nature of the content maybe it would be possible to start a network totally separate from the internet and build our own infrastructure.
Maybe in a few years there will be an easy and mostly affordable way to build our own internet.
We could have a web, mail server, p2p etc

No, it wouldn't be possible. This came up in another thread and we looked at some numbers, it's basically impossible to create connectivity between major cities in the same state using consumer hardware based purely on broadcast radius, which is saying nothing of the immense load that routing in that kind of network would represent.

I think most people on the internet are fine and even relieved to be here now. The old way was inefficient and if not a brand new concept, as it was, simply boring.

I think maybe you misinterpreted, Lanny?

He can use a widely available assortment of software to "bottleneck" his connection to any speed he sets, including 56k dial-up. Of course. Granted, the "community" he wishes to build, would all have to hop on board with that and do it to their own machines each. I don't believe he intended to create some community that is "bubbled" from a network sense where it downgrades incoming and outgoing to 56k limitations, regardless of the connecting speed.
