Asking people to 'repeat themselves' in order to extract information

   "What did you say your name was again?
   
   "What was your number again?"
   
   Even if they realize the ploy, it usually works pretty well for getting information.
   
   HOWEVER! Ask the wrong question and results could be catastrophic. Questions like:
   
   "How old is your sister again?"
   
   Will result in no information and no sister.
   
   Discuss.

   I don't think the "again" part represents asking them to repeat something they didn't say in the first place...it's you emphasizing you ALREADY asked them (possibly indirectly as well as directly) and you are asking..again.

    For some reason very few will deny the reality that you never asked to begin with, and they'll just give it to you. For girls/guys you aren't hitting on in a bar and are actual friends with, its also good to get closer to them without having to present a situation in which you may need it
