Has technology stopped being cool?

Remember how exciting it used to be to buy a Palm Pilot or a Nokia phone and play around with it? Tech all seems kinda boring now. Is there any cool tech out there?

Tech has always been fucking stupid I remember wanting to play the new phone games when the iPhone came out. People would always mention these fcking games on their phone so when I finally got to downloading a game I found out they were playing basic computer games like angry bird and stupid shit like that it's gay as fuck not people are all about fucking with enhancements it's so gay broh

What year Nokia? The tiny ones? There wasn't much to do one them

I think tech wise the problem with technology now it restriction, having no to brick everything is stupid most people wouldn't care anyway asking as they get to have Facebook and Instagram

People of recent generations are more worried about how technology will affect/heighten their social media. People don’t like to “think” anymore— many peeps are fine with being moreorless lazy bots.

I definitely think so. Having cool and accessible technology has become affordable and commonplace. Plus there was new shit coming out like handhelds, portable video players, HD, even microwaves lol.

What comes out now is simply more of the same, so it isn't as interesting. Same features and abilities on an iphone as anything else. I feel consumer ready VR/holograms will be the next 'cool' thing.

I think it's an age thing. Kids still get pretty hyped for new technology stuff. When I was a kid computing was magic, like I had literally no idea how it worked and my only exposure to it was in leisure time. As I got older I started to realize phones, laptops, desktops, consoles, they're all just like computers shaped a little differently. They're the same kind of tools I use to do my job, pay my taxes, do my shopping. They're just like... mundane. There's also significantly more homogeneity in interface design, the place where all theses different computers have a chance to differentiate themselves, but they generally elect not to.

But if when you've only been using computers for a couple years they still seem pretty diverse and not just like a normal old inert object. Maybe that'll change with "digital natives" where like computers end up being like books or tables, just normal utility items but I still think at _some_ point that excitement for tech is always going to exist.

Yeah idk I watch/see children a lot (Mexican) and none of them give a shit about what the new technology is.

Don't think op is talking about what you're talking about tho. Of course some people will be interested. But that isn't the same as new technology being cool and hip.

There were walkmans, vhs players, Atari, etc. All stuff that introduced something new and exciting. Kids are born with phones now so a new phone model that can do the dame shit is meh.

Many of us grew up in a transitional phase, where stuff like cell phones hadn't been fully adopted, and it was exciting as fuck to have that shit. Kids want stuff now but idk. They don't think its special. Things have been stale since the modern phone came about u kno

How does that have anything to do with capitalism? Why must you make everything political.

    This is about the children

Definitely not. As someone "in the business", I see it all. From the latest phone or tablet or computer or what have you. Granted, I don't get all giddy and jump up and down like I did when I ripped the fucking-CH-RI-STMAS (fuck you Lanny you anti-CH-RIST-DANG-MAS faggot) wrapping off that peculiar box in 1992 and saw the words, "Super Nintendo Entertainment...." that's all I needed to see. I shit myself as a little kid.

These days, I still get excited about new tech. Not the jumping up and down kind of excited, but still excited to see it, touch it, play with it, configure it, benchmark it, test.

    I'm a nerd like that.

living in a 3rd world country i never really had a chance to experience 'new' technology.

new technologies, by the time they reach here, are already pretty old in technological terms, so i guess you cant miss the second penis you never have.
