That's unlikely with any modern bugs. A lot of them will be using burst transmission or a frequency that won't be easily detected. There's ultrasonic transmission, infrared laser and uv laser transmission. All invisible and much harder to detect. Nowadays with everyone carrying around a smart phone, there's not much need for bugs. They've developed ways to turn Samsung TV screens into surveillance devices... Also, audio can be picked up from radio waves with interferometer technology, so even if you don't have a smart phone or other microphone in your house, radio waves are still passing through it, and the vibrations from your or anyone else's voice, or typing, or anything else, can be picked up as the waves are altered slightly by the vibration of different materials. Everything is somewhat reflective to radio frequency and at gigahertz frequency, even moreso. Wifi and smartphones for example normally ignore this analog data in the analog to digital conversion process, but the data is still there for anyone to pick up if they want it. So these days, there isn't much need for a bug to be planted. Only amateurs would be doing that, or people in places where passive methods can't be used.

EDIT: another interesting thing about the analog to digital conversion process is that whilst much of the original analog data is ignored as interference, it is possible if you have access to it, to determine which direction a signal to your smartphone is coming from. Nifty if you notice someone nearby seems to be messing with your wifi connection or something. -
