This is "new" technology as in there doesn't exist any clandestine version of this patended process because I'm literally the only living human who knows/cares enough to do this kind of research. Maleic anhydride, sugar, butane and hydrogen can all be produced following "green chemistry" guidelines

2016-02-10 at 3:39 PM UTCa) Converting n-butane to MAN by catalytic vapour phase oxidation. b) Recovering MAN from the effluent gases from the butane oxidation by selective absorption into GBL, forming a MAN-GBL mixture.
c) Removing water from the MAN-GBL mixture in a stripper, under the action of a gas and/or under vacuum, producing a MAN-GBL mixture with a minimum water and maleic acid content.
d) Recovering GBL from the exhaust gases that leave the maleic anhydride absorber, by water absorption;
e) Dehydrating the GBL recovered and recycling it to the maleic anhydride absorber;
f) Hydrogenating the dewatered MAN-GBL mixture over suitable catalyst (s) under conditions that favour
THF and GBL formation.
g) Separating THF, GBL and by-products from the resulting hydrogenation mixture, by distillation.
h) Recycling a GBL rich stream to the MAN selective absorption.
The overall hydrogenation operating conditions and major performances are: Pressure: from 20 to 80 bar,
preferably from 30 to 50
bar
Temperature: from 120 to 280 C,
preferably from 170 to
240 C
H2 to MAN molar ratio: from 20 to 150,
preferably from 40 to 60
H2 space velocity: from 500 to 4000 hr-1
preferably from 2000 to
3000 hr~l
Conversion of MAN: from 96% to 100%
Selectivity to GBL: from 88k to 95k
Selectivity to THF: from lo to 10W
Total selectivity to GBL+THF: from 90% to 98%

2016-02-12 at 12:53 AM UTCNo need for scrubbers or catalyst recycling systems, that's if you're starting from butane and making metric tonnes in a plant. Start from Maleic anhydride or succinic acid..
1 or 2 hydrogenations vs working with THF and sodium bromate. I need a few $1000$ so I can run this small scale and record the results, I dont think anyone has done this process clandestinely.

GABA powder can be purchased online for like $15 for 2Lbs, NaNO2 can be had for about the same price. The yield is theoretically quantitative, but of course in practice mechanical losses will leave you with maybe 70-80% yield. Best of all no hydrogenation required.. not sure why you think the reaction your talking about is so amazing, it requires a plantium/palladium/rhodium ingot as a catalyst, unless of course your set up to perform a hydrogenation at 400c + and under extreme pressure.

mny research is apocalypcis and space stations. Hydrogenations are more "OTC" than ordering shit in bulk from china.
