   Why would sending jedis to camps be any different than using them for factory labour? Even official history is that pretty much all jedis in camps survived.

   That's probably because you've never been presented with the option. I guarantee that if you did, you would choose to be a prisoner for at least long enough to make suicide from within the prison difficult.
   
   Although I guess in WWII you could just volunteer yourself for the execution pit or whatever.

   Depends, slaves don't always have it bad. Roman slaves had it fairly good, and there are still lots of slaves in Africa and even South America even today. The big difference seems to be the access to legal rights and property that you have, but economically the difference can be quite small.
   
   OTOH getting penal labour with some vodka sucking jedi russian commissar supervising, yeah, that seems to have always sucked.
