Is there really going to be an economic/societal collapse this year in america?

As if unemployment numbers are a reliable indicator of economic health, go ahead and check how they calculate unemployment numbers. Everyone who has a part time job is counted as employed. A better indicator of economic health are real wages which are still 1.2% below what they were at the beginning of 2009.

The argument was not for economic health, it doesn't need to be. It was about the relative quality of life the typical american experiences and the propensity of that to incite societal collapse. I will maintain true unemployment (not having any job) is far more likely to catalyze a populace into something like revolt or whatever than being poor but again, that's not necessary. The point is that there have been far worse economic situations in the US that have utterly failed to produce anything more than a nod from legislators and some dumb, meaningless displays of anger. Hell, I might even support something like proletariat revolt but I can't think of any compelling reason for it happening in the next 10 years, certainly not in 2017 in america.

Do you really think people being 1.2% poorer by some metric (I'd like to see an actual study to establish that number) is going to cause societal collapse? If not, and you think that's likely in the next year, then tell me for what reason.

I don't think there will be societal collapse. Got that number from multiple sources, including The Economist and Peter Schiff, but since we're both arguing a different subject i think we can put this discussion on hold for now. Unless you wanna' talk economics that's fine with me.

I would absolutely love to see this happen within the next couple years.

Shit would be awesome! ...for many, many, many personal reasons.

Exactly. But then again, Bill Krozby got shitfaced recently and was tripping so he probably thinks McCarthy is still running around screaming "Commies!"

(Not a hate post, Bill Krozby.)

Good to hear, Bill Krozby. I'm a little bit concerned about drugs usage because it might make you do stupid things. Have you found a new job yet?

^I don't normally use drugs anymore, and they were just some shrooms, No I haven't yet, I'm working on it. I will bounce back soon, its just every time I look for a job I always try to be a little bit more discriminatory, especially now. I kind of wanted to take a little time off, six months of working the night shift and drinking heavily took a bit of a toll on me, but I feel a lot better now, I basically slept for the last 10 days but it was something I needed because I wasn't sleeping at all before.

My co-workers and I have hung out a few times since I was fired, they eventually became my friends (except my boss and that one idiot) luckily they will be around town probably working a different job and I will see them and or work with them again. I work "shitty" jobs, but I don't want to pick just any shitty job and because of my background it makes it a little difficult

I haven't tried drugs, but I always thought shrooms were the same thing. Anyway I need to find a job myself as well but I don't know what I can do.. I don't want to work at a callcenter, nor do I want to approach people downtown.. what should I do? What job did you do again? Did you need a degree for that? And it's good that you've gotten your rest. I am still a neet so I guess you can say I have slept for the last 9 months.. however it's 7:19am and I still haven't slept. Hope you can get a shitty job you like.. you have to pay child support after all.

I have had several jobs, I used to work at blizzard (which is basically an over glorifed call center) I've been a nursing aid at a psyche hospital, I've worked in a few kitchens. though personally my favorite job was the last one I had at a pizzeria downtown. I made more money there than I ever have. I was actually able to save up a couple thousand while still paying my child support and spending money on booze and food , ect..

are people that work downtown in your area really that bad? at least you don't have a criminal record. If I didn't I'd be doing things a lot different.

Blizzard as in the WoW creators? And you were a nursing aid? That's awesome. So that means you studied nursing or something like that in college, right? I hope you are able to find a job that was just as good as the pizzeria downtown. And no, people aren't all that bad. They'll either just ignore you or say "no thank you" or some might get frustrated that they were approached, but the last barely happens. It's just that I don't feel like approaching people.. but the pay is really good. I just checked online, it's 15,50 an hour if you're between 18 and 20, and at 21 it's 17,00 euros an hour. It's a temporary full-time job, too.. I don't know if I should take it. I am not shy but I dunno... should I do it? I don't know... maybe I'll find another job in the meantime. I applied to McDonalds but I haven't heard from them.. and my dad found me a job but the guy who works there said it wasn't necessary because he's got family members he can use to work for him.. so I think the guy just offered me a job where he pays no money. I don't know, I hope that's not the case. It's gonna be hard work though, but I'll take any job I can get right now. Kind of contradicting with what I earlier said ,but you know.

it's entirely possible. I actually would've expected it sooner considering the US' current economic position, but it's like it keeps getting postponed without any attempt being made to fix the problem

I don't know, but one thing i do know is that I've learned a lot of cool shit thanks to paranoia of this happening

In particular, handloading, hence my name

I don't need electricity, laws, grocery stores or cars to be happy. In fact I seem to be happier avoiding these things.
