I do not really solely on reason nor solely on my own personal empirical observations or solely on those made by others, but a combination of all three.
Which is the reason why I said an education provides reason to believe the model is credible, but not necessarily that it is applicable to reality. Without proper, rigorous, empirical study we can only demonstrate that ideas are internally consistent, not that they are external realities applicable to existence. I would agree an education provides sufficient support for the logical consistency of the globe model, but not that it provides sufficient empirical support for it being the reality. Hence, flat earthers exist. *sigh*
