Nobody (except the biggest liberals) complains about hunters going out and bagging white tail deer for example, because they're fuckin pests that are better off as meat during hunting season, and they're actually hunting. That's analogous to going and fishing at a stream.
A lot of people fish for sport, and hunt for sport.
Granted, paying someone to put the target of the hunt in a position where they become easy prey is kinda messed up.
To be honest, I'm only defending hunting and fishing for the sake of consistency. We've technically reached a point of cultural evolution where we don't actually need to hunt or fish anymore. Even farming (of animals) is technically unnecessary.
Whether hunting/fishing for food or for sport, it seems a bit hypocritical to judge them. -

Deer hunting season is more pest control than a food drive. You need to kill them or they will overpopulate their habitat. This is largely why deer hunting takes place in America. And yeah it can be a lot of fun. What's the problem? -

theres no proof that theres a current overpopulation problem with deers in the US. if the woods can support their current number, then theres no over population.

Deers reach maturation within one season. Their population has increased 1000x in the US over the past 100 years. -
