Love is a Myth

I refuse to believe that there are people out there that experience this so called "Love" emotion.

You're absolutely full of it if you make such claims.

Being "in love" is basically just being in a major manic episode sprinkled with delusions of grandeur and self-importance.

Romantic love is nothing but a myth that is perpetuated by greeting card companies and their ilk, as well as deluded "lovers" out there who are somehow tricked into believing they're "in love."

Your brain is playing tricks on you, and you, in turn, play tricks on the rest of us.

You never have experienced true love, because it doesn't exist.

If you make any such claim, you are either in true denial, or are being intentionally deceptive and dishonest.

    For shame.

Swallow the cold, hard, black pill that love is naught but fantasy and delusion.

Either that, or teach me how to believe in such fantasy and fairy tails with such vigor, despite the transient and flimsy nature of such beliefs.

If you can sustain such delusions for any amount of time, you may be dumb and gullible, but you're happier than I am.

I'll take dumb, gullible, and happy over the black pill.

    But can it be taught?

Love is a gimmick to make sex respectable, for women.

Women give up sex for love.

Men give up love for sex.

Love isn’t a myth. Some people are capable of maintaining relationships and some people are not.

    Nobody was talking about relationships.

You mean some people are capable of sustaining delusion...

Meaning, some people are honest and willing to admit that love is nothing but a fairy tale - the stuff of myths, legends, and Disney movies.

I think there’s a difference between love and being in love and I think it’s more difficult to sustain that feeling of being in love. I don’t think it’s difficult to love people for extended periods of time though.

Yeah, well, you know what I think?

People can maybe love each other for "extended periods of time", but people can also suffer from any kind of delusion for "extended periods of time".

Sustaining anything even remotely resembling love is exemplary of true delusion.

I don't doubt love exists, I have had it and lost it...I just don't see it as a possibility for me again. All I have said before was just for fun on this stupid website.

Eh I just think genuine romantic love is tougher to find. I mean even genuine friendships are sorta hard to come by.

    Exactly!

    It's a temporary experience.

Holding on to any kind of wish for it's permanence is utterly ridiculous.

    It's all just brain chemistry.

You can get the same feelings as being in love by doing drugs, having a body pillow a fleshlight and listening to oxytocin inducing music like this

That being said I'm a classic romantic and I have always had to urge to chase girls around and pull their hair ever since I was in grade school. I have a really big heart so I can fall in love easily and become obsessed with certain females and want to tie them up and stare at them all day. I think I would be a polygamist if I could pull it off and have like 1000 wives like Genghis Khan but society is pretty fucked and so are most women so I don't take think it would ever happen.

I've also had some weird relationships with large age gaps, I tend to date girls older than me.

Everyone is different though like my dad is a chronic bachelor and dates 20 year olds and he's never been married.

    Same here.

In fact, I have been with women both double and half my age.

They've all been great, in fact.

    I don't hate anyone.

    I'm just a realist.

    Love is a myth.

Some of us get to experience it from time to time, but it remains a myth.
