What general size, location, clientele, atmosphere etc do you like in a bar or pub? Are you a regular patron at any bar or pub?

I have a couple kind of bars and pubs I like. The first kind is the neighborhood bar. This is where I am a regular. Drinks are cheap. The buisness is probably failing because there are so few customers. The clientele ranges from old folks having an afternoon drink to townies who live close and cant go elsewhere for whatever reason. This is the place where the bartender knows your name. The second kind are kindof higher class places. The kind of place some young to midaged professionals grab a drink. Music isnt too loud. Atmosphere is bright. This place is probably in the heart of the city so other bars are closeby should I want to go to another. Drinks are mildly expensive.
Shitholes are always fun too.

I like a lot of dive bars, and I live in austin so we have some of the best bars where punk/ metal /rock bands play. When I worked at the pizzeria, I worked by tons of bars and they were all cool. I worked right next to a biker/irish pub and they always had punk or black metal bands playing.
My favorite bar is probably violet crown down town
funny story though, (you might not think its funny) but I went on a date and I met a girl at a microbrew/wine bar, no hard liquor at all. And she asked for a tecate and the bartender looked at me like wtf.. she then asked do you have any mexican beers? The bartender and I just looked at each other. He gave her free samples and we had some good brew.s But when we were heading back to my place, she had to stop at the corner store to get a budewiser tomatoe juice deal..
I guess you like what you like. I drink shitty beer all the time. but If im going out or have some cash to treat myself well I will try to get something nice.
Really my favorite thing to order that is kind of expensive is a shot of knob creek I like the way whiskey hits me and i don't feel all full

I used to a work a brewpub is CA and we had our 7 available beers a on a huge, wooden board right behind the bar. WE also told people the deal. "Umm, I'll have a Corona."
I like one with a good girl/guy ratio, my age crowd and I really like a lively karaoke place with good sound system and just the right amount of singers/
