2018-12-17 at 2:35 AM UTCASMR is pretty cool actually.
I use it when I need to fall asleep sober.
It's been a while, but I will be getting back into it for my NY resolution (to quit drinking). -

Aww, really?
Maybe you just haven't found the right ASMR artist...
Not all voices or personalities work for everyone.
Also, the way you listen to it (headphones vs speakers), or the mood you're in when you listen, time of day, topic/theme of ASMR recording, etc, can all impact it. -
2018-12-17 at 2:46 AM UTCI’ve listened to a good variety and it just doesn’t happen, probably because I want it to happen so badly. Tingles before sleep just sound nice but oh well.
And I mean obviously this spoof video is shit and not meant to be taken seriously. -

Yeah, the whole over-the-top jedi Rabbi gambit is a bit weird.
And most ASMR videos are AT LEAST 20-30 minutes long, if not an hour or more.

There may, unfortunately, be a genetic component that just predisposes some to experience the 'tingles', while others don't for some reason.
I remember the 'tingles' being a thing WELL before I heard of ASMR...
I think it has to do with oxytocin release in the brain.
Oxytocin is the trust neurotransmitter.
I remember getting the same kind of feeling whenever someone was showing me how to do something in a hands-on way.
Basically, being tutored, for example, gave me the same kind of tingles.
Maybe some of this will help you understand it better, which might lead to you finding more effective ASMR experiences. -

I keep thinking maybe it’s like those magic eye things and one day my brain will just figure it out but my brain is most likely broken. -
2018-12-17 at 2:56 AM UTCim not into ASMR but I've gotten those "tingles" from a very early age, I've always used it to guide myself. Would agree there's some oxytocin shit going on there. As I grew older I was able to take those feelings that were fairly localized and get dat full body tingle. not even a person, just a euphoric feeling. gonna go listen to some songs that I know will trigger that shit, bask in the glory of life.

And here I was assuming you just sit around and stew in shitty neurotransmitters, or deficiencies of the good ones.
Biochemical pleasure is a universal pleasure though.
The one that that unites us all, from nihilist to 'God'-fearing, bible-thumping zealot, and everything in between. -

I remember those!
Yeah, it might be one of those things.
Don't give up. Try different ASMR YouTube channels. Experiment with different vocal tones, themes, gender of speaker even, etc. You might just find your ASMR niche. -

I probably enjoy life more than most people, I'm a cold blooded nihilist but also a completely serious gnostic Christian that loves life and is in a eternity long battle for the souls of man. it's not like I sit around all day thinking about how everything sucks, most of my time is spent laughing my ass off. -

So like a realistic optimist, basically?
Or optimistic realist... If one wants to start splitting hairs.
Again, we share a pretty similar worldview, I think. -

Terms like "optimistic realist" really is a linguistic way of trying to defend yourself against the pure psyche that doesn't even give a fuck about hypocrisy. im not sure if we have the same worldview, but I think we share a similar attitude. I mean, we probably don't have the same cosmology of the universe. im not a pessimist, im not an optimist, I'm certainly not a realist but I hate bullshit. all I know is that whatever you believe is wrong and I can open up a few more bottles of wine and argue about this for another 36 hours. -

One of these days we're gonna do this.
But I'm on short time right now on NIS.
I'm trying to post less and less each day.
It sucks up all my time.
I got projects and goals and shit that I hope will drag me out of my current job (which isn't that bad, but still).
I am guilty of proletarian thoughts of ascension into bourgeoisie status.
Call me delusional if you want, but I'mma keep at it. -
2018-12-17 at 3:26 AM UTCI never knew what it stood for until now, and I feel much gayer for knowing.

2019-09-28 at 6:06 PM UTCYeah i get ASMR, it's dope. Only one i'm subscribed to is this loli from Belgium who is cute and wholesome, and it makes my brain release endorphins just looking at her face. And then i feel like a bad person for wanting to cuddle and pat her head all day. but i do it anyway.
Non-loli related ASMR is cool too. But the tingly sensation is short lived and it's almost like a drug, after it happens for a couple of times the effects seem to wear off. Also, i hate my brain for being unable to suspend my disbelief. Even when i close my eyes and it's as if someone is whispering in my ear, i still know it's fake and it takes away from the overall experience. All in all 7/10 would watch lolis whisper and also not so pedo things again.
