Pausing to get information

Do you guys ever do this/notice this? Like when somebody is talking about something, and then stop. And you say nothing. Then they'll keep talking and give you more information. It's a tactic often used in interrogations, but you can use it for mundane shit too.

Today I ordered pizza and when they asked what toppings I wanted I just didn't respond.

"We have pepperoni, green peppers, sausage, garlic, blah, blah, blah..."

    "..."

    "..Ham, pineapple, onion-"

I stopped her but it's interesting how people just have this natural tendency to keep talking and explaining with no input from the other person whatsoever. And I have the tendency to let people keep talking so I see this quite a lot. I think it's probably why I end up learning so much about others while they know next to nothing about me.

I definitely don't do this that I've recognized. When people don't respond I usually go in with a question or something more engaging, because I HATE talking at people rather than with them. And I'm okay with the silence. I have to be really excited about something to talk about it without continued input. I know a lot of others who are this way too, not saying I'm special or anything.

So which one of these are you?

The quietest guy ever. I hate to be put in a position, where a group of people expect a reaction-or an impulse rather, to continue toward the topic that was spoken. I’m just being rational here because what if you did say something intellectual and it doesn’t have no comparison toward the topic that was being brought up? And then there’s this awkward silence and creepy staring, until someone brings up another topic leaving you nodding your head like a bobble head, but with no additional input toward the conversation because you hate to sound dumb, nor a person who can’t authenticate a sentence in which the “party” would agree on. I hate looking dumb to people, but at the same time, I fucking love it, because misjudgment would sometimes make them think before actually saying something like oh, maybe he did probably graduated from Harvard after all, or sum bs. It like being placed in a laboratory full of scientists and you’re the lab rat being studied upon. I don’t want to be a splinter when I know I’m already been well conditioned as a Leonardo. And more thing, that sugarcoating shit is soooo overrated, it’s fun to some, but to real people it’s lame af. If you have something on your chest that you’d want to know about, you go to their face and just say it. Stop that Mickey Mouse bs and tell the person how you really feel about them. Whether if they’d care about it or not. High school is over. Keep it a buck that’s all I’m sayin
