So, I decided I wanted to learn more about the posters and the anthropological atmosphere that make up NIS.
So, I scraped some data from the "user" url path (Don't worry Lanny, I limited it to 1 request per second, even though your robots.txt says like 4 per second, and also, there are only like 5000 users, so that isn't too, too many requests).
Now that the data is saved, I'm gonna do some analysis.
To start off with, here's a little teaser - Top 15 posters in terms of number of posts:
The Self Taught Man: 155,841
infinityshock: 28,812
Bill Krozby: 28,217
mmQ: 22,682
Sophie: 17,493
-SpectraL: 16,200
NARCassist: 15,663
bling bling: 13,866

Now that I have the data stored locally, I no longer have to burden ol' Lanny's servers.
I gathered data like number of threads started, join date, thanks received, thanks given, etc.
I'll be calculating some ratios to see if anything interesting comes up.

Lanny used to have a feature here where you could "Anonymize your account", essentially making every post you ever made on this website fall under the name The Self Taught Man. Many users in fact did use this feature, some many times, and so The Self Taught Man naturally has a lot of posts and a lot of collective thanks and user stats because it's a combination of however many users decided to wipe their accounts.
Either way, neat stats. You still need to post your totse DUMP.

I actually made a "The Self Taught Man" account before Lanny caught me making crypto-fakes. There are two Lanny's and SpectraLs and a couple of others. It was a good time but it cost me my original account and a bunch of cool alts.
