Ireland is probably an exception, as it still has a white birth rate. Everyone right now gets about $200 a week when they turn 65 or so.
Most small private sector employers do not make any provision for a pension, even though they're technically required to, so you're just fucked. In general, no union = no pension.
But you also have the fact of resource depletion, debt exhaustion and white demographic collapse coming.
By 2050, when I will be of an age to receive a pension, what sort of state will Europe and the US be in? Not a very happy one if current trends continue. -

They’ve been saying SS won’t be there for the last 4 or 5 generations of retirees, but it has. Just a scare tactic by partisan people trying to further an agenda.
Most people who make a decent salary realize that SS won’t cover a lot, so they invest, or sock away money on their own. I won’t get much SS since I’ve not paid into SS when working for the state. We paid into a public employees retirement account. It’s waiting on me. -

was 60.7 percent funded. In the absence of employer contributions, the health care fund is
expected to become insolvent after 12 years.

Some guy here once told me how he worked a few years in Canadia, and the Canadian government tracked him down in Ireland in order to pay him a pension. I don't remember the figures, but I remember thinking wow, he wound up being pretty well paid. -
2018-11-28 at 1:15 PM UTCYup, mine took a hell of a dip in 2007, and I had just purchased my home in 2005; but prices are back up, and my house value is much higher than when I bought it. It’s a sellers market right now. People are getting more than they’re asking for on their homes due to perspective buyers fighting over bids. Homes in my neighborhood stay on the market for maybe a month. I keep getting offers on my home from these housing investors, not going anywhere.
