This is a weird thread because it's about music in a vidya that came from a mod. Whatever, though. Ever play STALKER? It's pretty good. It's pretty hard too but i'm probably just a filthy casual. So there's that.
Anyway, in the mod OGSE when you get to the Ferris Wheel in Pripyat, Monolith Radio plays, which is a weird cult in the game. BUT!
I think they managed to capture the essence of Chernobyl and Pripyat pretty well here. Give it a listen, it always gets me in a post-apocalyptic mood.
These are actual songs from the period by the way, one of the groups that has a song featured is the Great Children's Choir of the USSR, that's pretty eerie in and of itself, but it's kind of weird. Because when i was born the wall fell and by the time i heard about communism it was long gone and it always had seemed such a strange and far off thing in history, like, ok this stuff happened but it's different when you've lived through it right?
Until one day when i was working at some industrial equipment loaning facility or whatever you call it and they had a stack of old shipping containers and the marking were in Russian and it sad CCCP in big letters on the things. I was like oh... It's like bumping into a piece of history. I imagine it's like finding a WWII bomb, while doing some road construction but much less explosive.
Anyway weird thread, technically musical in nature but i went off on a tangent there for a bit.
