Do You Guys Think Rust Was A Little Obsessed?

2018-11-18 at 6:53 PM UTCAgreed, Panthrax made a habit out of helping users (myself included) and was a stellar mod/admin/human.

I hope it's readable.
Panthrax, you had a huge impact on my life as well. -
2018-11-18 at 6:57 PM UTCThanks gadzooks. I'm glad I was able to help in some way.

I know you said it's not in a particular order, but I'm flattered that you ranked me underneath the admins and above the other mods. You were always my favorite crazy, shitposting loser. -

I think it ended up being more of an anxiety attack kind of thing (psychological) than any kind of immediate physical health threat.
But just look at the way Panthrax calmed me down, used that beautiful metaphor to instruct me, and gave me his AIM/MSN to talk one on one.
Panthrax, my man, I will never forget that day, and it was 13 years ago.
Totse really was a big part of a lot of our lives.
So all you DH-ers who tell us to "move on", etc...
Read that one post where Panthrax helped me out and tell me that wasn't a meaningful social interaction, despite being on an Internet forum mostly known for shitposting, racist jokes, and finding new ways to get high or blow things up. -

It was a pretty major life event for me, though.
I don't have that many going back that far.
Also, for what it's worth, I super-encrypt everything, and I am going through it bit by bit to make sure anyone's personally identifying information, or anything potentially incriminating, is redacted, because I am a very strong believer in the right to Internet privacy. -

Yeah dude. TOTSE was a huge part of my life and it still is. When I went to prison, people from TOTSE wrote me. When I got out, I joined Zoklet. When Zoklet went down, I followed the various other communities until ultimately deciding to join this one. Ever since I found TOTSE in 1999, I was obsessed with it. I read all the text files, completely consumed with all of the controversial information it held. I didn't even know it had a BBS or what a BBS was until 2001. I spent 99-01 reading the text files. I joined the BBS in 2001 and I believe it was 2003 when CrAzyAmIsHmAn (CAM) retired, I was nominated for moderator for BLTC. I was mod with Metaphysicist and kronikus.
I formed a long list of bonds and a couple in real life friendships over TOTSE and this community. It's pretty fucking interesting, really. How we've all stuck with it. -

Holy shit, you have an itemized list and everything.
Look, Spectral, one thing I like about you, is your devotion to Totse and the old Totse spirit.
That's your thing, and I will always like you for that.
But in my personal opinion (and perhaps this opinion might resonate with many others here), you can get a tad paranoid, and end up taking certain personal slights way more seriously than they need be. -

Lol, man, there was a time when becoming a Totse moderator was like a dream ambition for me.
I would have felt like a fucking king on cocaine if I ever got modded there. -

Hahah it secretly was one of my ambitions as well. Glad to have spent the time I did there. It went down while I was in prison. Meta wrote me the letter telling me and I remember the fucking SHOCK I felt reading those words. Fucking horrible feeling. Here I was, in a cell, in state prison, feeling BAD because a website went down. Hah. That's dedication. -

Funny how I was a mod on Totse, Zoklet, TheDamagedOne, TheRevoltPress and several other BBSs and I never once had to ban anyone just because I disagreed with them, or they "bothered" me. It's not paranoia. It's fact. All of these characters either directly or indirectly supported the banning of users they didn't agree with, or the banning of users who "bothered" them, but had broken no rules. It's not paranoia. It's fact. -

Oh man, if you're in prison and Totse going down is the worst news you can get from the outside, you know you were dedicated.
I hope that it didn't lower your spirits while you were in there, worrying that it won't be back up by the time you got out. -
