write an app that logs what you post on social media, no matter how insane or inane, finds sources that agree with you and congratulates you for being 'woke'. for bonus points try to work something derisive about 'sheeple' into the title and/or tagline -

That would actually be so easy a program to write. If I didn't already pop my sleepy time benzos to end the meth binge, I'd probably throw that together tonight.
We can call it like, SheepBook, or InstaWoke, or like The Great Echo Chamber. They probably wouldn't even know it's making fun of them. -

yeah just use mechanize or something to search 'google scholar' or news or whatever
I actually considered doing it for a minute because I haven't coded anything in a long time, but I don't think I could cope if (when) people started taking it seriously -

If we're betting on specifics, I think his replacement will be Ahmad bin Abdulaziz and we'll say MbS steps down on… 1/12. First of the month.
lol what
Mbs wouldn't step down unless both pillars of the Saudi State are vehemently opposed to his rule and I seriously doubt they are. Can't tell for sure but he's represented progressiveness domestically, forced businesses to pay tithes and exerted Saudi influence against Shia abroad in many forms.
Not saying he shouldn't be gone and anyone would be a better leader, I'm just saying I haven't seen any indication his head is on the chopping block -
2018-11-18 at 4:08 PM UTCThe 'progressive' policies he pushed were surface-level and for image only, and were extremely unpopular domestically at that. His hold on power is tenuous as it stands given he has few friends he hasn't shaken down in the royal family - even without outside influence he'll be drawn into power struggle after power struggle and possibly deposed as a result.
This is more about US than Saudi politics though. There's a growing chorus in Congress calling for KSA arms deals to be scrapped over their crimes in Yemen which is only getting louder with Khoshoggi's killing and the ridiculous farce that followed; something will NEED to be done about it but Trump CANNOT break the arms supply contract because it underpins the economic growth that is fueling his popularity.
It would've been cleanest for all involved if MbS had strung up a mid-level intelligence commander as a rogue actor, but even the CIA is now claiming he himself gave the order.
It'll be a lot cheaper for the US to make MbS an offer he can't refuse to step down than to properly punish KSA - deposing the king gives the illusion that justice has been done and business continues as usual.
I mention Abdulaziz because he had long been exiled from the kingdom but flew back in about two weeks ago with a US security detail and reported safety assurances negotiated (demanded) by the US. -

Do you think the US holds that much sway over Saudi governmental policies? KSA buys a ton of weapons from Canada and Europe as well, plus has their pick of whatever shows up at the annual Dubai weapons expo. Sanctions are something Trump doesn't want to do but Saudi actions kind of demand a response but trumps response is proportional to the outrage.
I think Congress will call for the scrapping of the arms deal and MbS will feign shock and outrage and it will be business as usual afterwards. I have to imagine the power structure in KSA requires some sort of consortium of individuals on one page, the same individuals wanted Jamal dead and the same ones definitely want Yemen ruined. MbS doesn't seem like a good scapegoat for the KSAs actions to me. He was put in place to represent something and although I've heard he has some rogue ideals, he's fulfilling an agenda. I can't see him going down without rioting in Riyadh -

I honestly don't know how popular MbS is inside of Saudi Arabia, but I think that regardless of tactless arguments between him and Trump, he understands that KSA and the US are intertwined and depend upon one another, and if he fucks up hard enough that'll be the end of the royal family.
Both he and Trump want business as usual to continue, but if there isn't some big symbolic punishment for the Khoshoggi thing congress is going to force the issue which will cause major problems for both countries (US economy takes a nosedive, KSA has an arms shortage* and the Yemenis take the fight to Riyadh). I think he knows this is now bigger than just himself and the throne.
*I'll look up the stats later but I don't think any other source country has the production output to fill the void if the US weapons contracts are cancelled - perhaps Russia, but I suspect much of the equipment they mean to buy (mostly missiles and guided bombs) is incompatible would be incompatible with the planes and launch platforms they've already fielded sourced from F/UK/US.
Anyhow, it's definitely possible it won't play out this way, just seems like the most practical outcome based on what I've been reading. -

That's just it, he hasn't turned on the US and is only serving the KSAs agenda. He made a mistake and had a guy killed in public in another country and has to have some repercussions for it. Those repercussions don't mean a whole change in leadership especially a leadership that was instituted to represent change in itself
I know Canada has sent some very nice bombs and missles to KSA that have been used in Yemen but you're right, short of dealing with Israel, no one country other than the US could meet capacity. Russia just made some new systems but likely not in a great exportable capacity.
I predict France will offer to sell the KSA a naval fleet that would wreck the gulf of Aden -
