It has nothing to do with airsoft or roleplay. Are you a shill because calling something "roleplay" is a shill move. Its only role play if you are playing a roll. Going outside exploring at night is not playing a role.

I'd file it under urban exploring.

why "night" and why "ops"? sounds like something middle schoolers do after playing battlefield

Night is the time when the sun sets and its dark outside and ops is for operations which are planned events. It is called this because you plan an event in which you explore the night. Hence night ops. See? Easy to understand.

Further, if you arent interested in it why do you feel the need to detract from it? The majority (not all but most) of night oppers are in their 20's or 30's. Im sure you are the kind of person who hears someone wants to start doing any activity and you immediately have to tell them how stupid it is. Nice try shill.

honestly, urban exploration at night is fucking cool, i'd... had my expectations lowered when i posted that shit

has anyone ever made anything permanent outdoors, anything as in a small building (from an underground shelter covered with twigs, leaves and soil to a concrete blockhouse)

Fuck if we got a tunneling thread going that would be real dope.

Unfortunately I have little experience in outdoor shelter. I constructed grain bins for a summer but I feel that this is not the same as you are thinking. Me and by buddy were gonna build a winery (just planned fencing a shed) but we only got like 4 posts in the ground before saying "fuckit lets smoke weed".

I would like to make a small shack somewhere real remote like. Just a little place to chill and hang my hat. Maybe if EasyDoesIt sees this thread he will give us some tips on cabin building. Though its unlikely because he is mad that I as a dick to him in his survival gear thread.

Oh shit OP, this is pretty cool. I thought nightops.net died a long time ago - I'll have a blast reading through those old threads again.

I never really did night ops, I did some urbex one time at this abandoned water power plant but I was scared shitless because I saw hobo tents pitched in the main building and I had 0 experience. It didnt help that I was a super awkward teenager as well. Funny, since then I've gotten into the whole body weight fitness thing so night ops would be easier to train into, but I think I'll stick to urban exploring tho. I'll post pics if I do it, spring's around the corner.

    OP, how'd it go?

Not bad but not eventful. Checked out some areas in my vicinity that I was unfamiliar with. Found this unmarked building with a bunch of wooden trusses and shit.

My apartment is in an industrial complex that has a fuckton of shit to explore. There is this rubble hill I want to check out sometime.

If you guys dont night op feel free to make this a general urbex thread. I did a lot of exploring drainage tunnels in my teens and checked out a couple abandonments so its definitely up the ally. Night ops is basically urbex at night anyway.

We used to do this when I was a kid....we called it 'going out and stealing stuff from parked cars'.

    good times.

Wasn't there a thread a little while back about someone taking some sort of drug that heightened perception of light? Pretty sure that was a night ops thread though maybe it was on one of the other sites.
I used to live in the middle of nowhere so I couldn't ever get up to cool shit like this, I've tried but it just doesn't work too well, would probably work much better in America.

IIRC there were some eye drops developed that were thought to have a strong effect on this, but then they turned out to be dangerous and possibly ineffective.

This brings up some results: https://www.google.com/search?q=night+vision+eye+drops+dangerous

Would have been hella cool. May still be workable.

Pretty sure this is the thread you are refering too. The OP is from nightops.net and doesnt really post here any more. Its interesting theory but could be really dangerous if the synthesis isnt carried out on a clinical level.

I think it might have been this or possibly a web search based on it, sounds like it would be nice to take even as a non-nops, if safe that is.

Okay then chemical, electronic or standard eyesight? With the amount of light pollution around I can usually see pretty well with just my eyes in the dark and barring that the moon is always there but I've always been interested in getting some sort of electronic enhancer(even one of those shitty kid ones) to see the night in a different way, course my thinking has more than a little been influenced by the hollywood view on nvgs but still, any of y'all use 'em before?

I still stick my nose in here from time to time, it's good to see people are still interested in night ops!

The drops do work noticeably especially on a moonlit night but they're relatively expensive for most people and apart from the wow factor they're not very necessary. Most of my experiments kind of bleed into night ops as it's an interest of mine but usually that's not primarily what they're for. Electronic night vision is similarly just a straight hassle and a waste to carry/wear. All of the best, most fun things you can possibly do don't require anything but dark clothes, gloves, and a mask I've always thought.

Any of you guys been up to anything exciting lately in this?
