The management company I do a lot of work for has been installing vinyl glue down flooring everywhere lately. Tough and water resistant. -

You can install some laminate over carpet. It will “float” on top. But if your renting how much are you willing to spend on flooring? Your looking at 2$ a square foot on the really cheap side, plus you will needs tools, and baseboards. They would be around 1$ a foot and up. Seems like it might be smarter to buy some nice rugs then take them when you leave. Unless you plan to stay long term -
