Yeah, a lot of people see him as a 'saviour' from 'evil globalism' but judging by what he's done so far, I highly doubt it'll work out that way.

Also maybe this guy was just gay for Trump. I'll bet he's sent love letters

It's kind of remarkable that the poor Americans all seem to be for Trump. I do genuinely think it is a form of desperation, like the Russians supposedly praying to Stalin.

Policies aside, people tend to identify with him because he's not a career politician and doesn't speak like a politician - I remember reading a study (that was definitely an attempt to make him look bad) that found typical politicians speak at a college level whereas Trump tends to speak at a fifth-grade level. That's not to say he's retarded (like the study heavily implied), he knows his audience (typically the rural and lower income crowd) and speaks in a way that they can identify with. He's like a symbol of 'what the average Joe can accomplish'; he's just a normal person who 'did well for himself' and 'you can too'.

I don't understand the Globalism narrative.... Is it just a word for neo-liberal free trade and privatization? Or is it "the UN tryin to take muh guns". It always comes off to me as strange that the same people usually boost capitalism but don't recognize this trend as a manifestation of it.

Recently read in WSWS that the US was trying to reestablish steel and mfg, as well as become less reliant on trade itself to put itself on a war footing. which I though was a bit much but, who knows. These niggas like their hyperbole.

    Yup, I totally agree.

In theory globalisation isn't a bad thing; the issue is that countries have different costs of living, some artificially pressed down and others bloated meaning that multinational companies are able to exploit markets by manufacturing in low-cost countries and selling the product in high-cost countries. It's a predictable facet of capitalism when corporations become large and powerful enough to propagate and expand this system (largely through political means) of keeping some countries poor and exporting all of their labour there.

In terms of how the term 'globalism' is used by those people (like TDR), it's not just in an economic sense; it's more about the political and cultural effects of multinational companies and 'NGOs' with too much power over government policy.

Yeah I don't like WSWS much, and I'm not ideologically opposed to socialism like most people in the west seem to be. The site is run by 'Trotskyists' and usually put ideology before facts. Way before.

If you're interested in that perspective I like Ramin Mazaheri - this for example is a good read

    Where have the apostles gone?
    Joining hands with wicked ones
    Revelation has come to pass
New World Order will hold the mass

    A book written by man
    Used to control and command
    All rights will be denied
Without the mark you shall die

    No confession
    All is known
    New World Order
    You shall be shown

    Monitoring all wages
New World Order comes in stages
    Your currency is obsolete
    Feel the agony of defeat

    Symbol of society today
A must-have, or you shall pay
As humans' flesh leads the mind
Just a pawn, the last martyr dies

    No confession
    All is known
    New World Order
    You shall be shown
