Really dumb Yagi TV antenna question

  1. #1
Are you supposed to aim the pointy bit towards the signal source, or away from it?

Also all the coax for different TV points in this house come into one closet, but the wiring was never finished (and that that was wasn't done right anyway), so how do I wire up all of these? There are like 10 cables plus the source line connected to the yagi in the attic.

Electricians are worse than jedis by the way.

never used one for TV specifically but yeah, they're directional, point it in the direction of the source

as for 10 cables, lol, no idea. it should only need 2, do the cables all connect to the same place? they might just be for multiple wall outlets so you only need need to worry about 1 pair

The electrician, who is a relative, had his brainless apprentice do the work, and neither of them actually knew what they were doing.

As a result all the TV coax wires go to the hall, instead of the attic where they belong.

The phone system, immersion heater, and front door bell never worked, and had to be either fixed or discarded. The phone lines and door bell apparently had damaged wires, so had to be just abandoned.

I have spent a while now trying to figure out how to debug a wire with two live wires (on the same phase) and an earth.

It's supposed to be for a wall light (a Sacred Heart Picture, an Irish thing).

I can't figure this bullshit out.

Never let a relative do work for you.

jedis don't generally work with their hands, and besides they usually have something in the line of brains.

That's my question. Like a gun, which end do I point towards the enemy?

Yeah, pretty sure in this case the bent part at the back acts sort of like a dish. You can probably attach a multimeter to it to verify unless noise is a major issue

    It's a reflector, right?

This is all trying to pick up the English channels from Northern Ireland. We can see the Mourne mountains from here, but some of the channels don't always come in clear.

couldn't find a manual for one with more than one connector - they all seem to just have the one coax slot

    Neither of those manuals say.

I can't find anything that says.

This yagi only has one coax connector - I think all of them do.

Coax is so backwards, multicast should be the standard inside homes.
