    100kV/100kA is a very reasonable average. Let's take a look at what the article said now shall we?

    You seem to forget that electric potential is something entirely different than current or voltage. Also you don't power a house with Volts, numbnuts. You power a house with watts, seeing as the current of a lightning bolt comes in amps you need to convert it to watts to figure out the power output in watt-hours there's an easy equation to convert amps to watts. The power P in watts (W) is equal to the current I in amps (A), times the voltage V in volts (V): P(W) = IA x V(V).

Watts is simply a measurement of joules/sec so let's plug your 20 million number in our equation now shall we? What do we get?

    20000000 eV = 3.204352974â‹…10-12 Ws

    Do you even scientific notation? In case you don't 10 to the power of -12 means 3.20xxx twelve decimals after the comma. In other words the energy output of a lightning bolts gamma radiation is negligible in terms of the amount of work we can do with it.
