DO YOU USE IT? Supposedly results in filesizes 25-50% of the same footage encoded in h264. I tried to download an h265 movie but my old lappytop struggled to play it in Video LAN player- plays fine for a minute or two then begins stuttering or showing weird graphical glitches ( im sure theres plenty of variables but the file was actually like twice the size of the other h264 versions of the movie at the same resolution ). Messed with video settings and couldn't get it to play smooth.

I guess newer intel CPUs give you chip-level decoding, some snapdragon phones etc. I shoulda tried to watch it on my phone before I deleted it.

    16gig ram
intel i5-2450M ( dual core, sandy bridge )
    nvidia GT540M
    win 7 64bit

i read hardware HEVC decoding is built into intel CPUs skylake or newer.

Maybe the problem was with the encoder.

For instance I have seen video encoded with a fixed bit rate go to crap during fast action sequences

It has a QWERTY laptop keyboard , lacking the 10key/17key traditional numberpad. I typed on it so much that the home-key nubs are all but worn away. It has a space-frame chassis built with silicon bronze inserts and uses titanium-nitride coated fasteners. My good friend Bill Gates personally knighted my Microsoft Windows license and he autographed the windows splash screen that i see every time I boot up. He personally signs all of my device drivers whenever I get something new. Hes a good f&*(cking dude and when a program stops responding it has a special button that I use to start a video chat with him and im always like lol bill sup with ur shit bud? Nah man hes good people and always gets me tuned up right quick.

The USB ports were gold-plated by the same guy that Donald Trump uses, and the little blue insulator piece in the jacks are backlit and cut from genuine Burmese Saphire. Carl Zeiss personally did the final-polish on my webcam lens and sends me a Christmas card every year. The palmrest area under the keyboard and surrounding the mouse is made from reclaimed Maplewood which was pulled from the flooring in Bernie Madolf's office shortly after his convictions. Jeff Hunter gave me the 256GB Crucial SSD for my birthday, and at the time was considered very high-end. Dr. Dre hand-selected and designed the 10speaker audio system which will blow your socks off on just medium volume, he now claims it was his first Beats™ by Dre design.

hmm now I want to find the file I had problems with, should ahve looked at the info on it before deleting.
Just watched a show, in 720p this time but it played back flawlessly. not nearly as high quality of an image as the file i had trouble with tho.

only saw mild use on two processor threads, the others were pretty much baseline during playback.
