  1. #1
    I had another revelation during my drug fuelled adventure last night. Only fucking morons take life seriously. Life is about being rich and having fun. Tits, booze, drugs, and money baby!!! Wooo-eeeee!!!

    I want you to re-read this thread and cringe at yourself.

    And yes, before you say it, I know exactly what level of ironic you were trying to be.

    Lanny, one day when you are older you will look back on your silly superior feeling ways and realize how young, and juvenile you were back then.

    And before you say anything, yes, I know exactly know exactly know the things.

    You know, there was found to be an uncontacted Amazonian tribe with numerous cultural traits unique from any other civilization on Earth. Through techniques passed down across literally thousands of years, discovered and refined, they were said to attain a state of enlightenment at a very young age and maintain it throughout the rest of their lives, attaining perfect mastery over the self and knowledge of ultimate reality.

    One of their most sacred parables, dealing with the human condition and man's place in the world, can be loosely translated as follows:

    Tiger got to hunt,
    Bird got to fly;
    Man got to sit and wonder, "Why, why, why?"

    Tiger got to sleep,
    Bird got to land;
    Man got to tell himself he understand.

    The fact the the inbred deliverance-tier amazonian savages were able to invent a parable that rhymes when transplanted into a language they didn't even knows exists is kinda impressive

    What's even more impressive is that they knew of the existence of tigers, which never even existed on their continent, despite having been deeply isolated for such a long period of time.

    I suppose this is the level of knowledge you can attain when you become a transcendent being.

    Was it level zero? Because I wasn't being ironic or snarky or anything. I'm 100% serious, everything should be done for kicks.

    I take life very seriously. You kind of have to if you want to be an astronaut or make a lot of money.

    I posted that rhyme dozens of times over the years. It's from cat's cradle.

    Dude, duh. Why'd you have to lame it up? I actually thought of your post and felt mildly irked that you had posted it first on this site.

    Realistically this is more a function of diverse descriptoids than "transplantation". It could just as well be:

    Tiger got to hunt,
    Bird got to fly;
    Man got to sit and wonder, "for what reason, for what reason, for what reason?"

    Tiger got to sleep,
    Bird got to land;
    Man got to tell himself he it all makes sense.

    That was autocorrect messing up translation

    I presupposed it was merely your proclivity for verbosity and did not query the grammatical veracity of it.

    Same reason the tiger has to hunt and the bird has to fly.

    But I'm still wondering why, why, why?!

    Have you tried telling yourself you understand?

    Bokononism is based on the concept of foma, which are defined as harmless untruths. A foundation of Bokononism is that the religion is formed entirely of lies; however, one who believes and adheres to these lies will have peace of mind, and perhaps live a good life. The primary tenet of Bokononism is to "Live by the foma that make you brave and kind and healthy and happy."
