Happiness is being connected and our connections are fickle

You love people and you'll eventually be stabbed in the back. People will cheat, lie, steal, love, etc. We know this, yet still we maintain this expectation of happiness. We connect ourselves to the idea that things will be a certain way, a good way.

When they don't, the world collapses; Unhappiness seeps into our lives and breeds resentment. We grow jealous, annoyed, frustrated, angry.

The same idea can be applied to many things, but I guess my point is this: What are we supposed to connect ourselves to in order to be happy? Should we be disconnecting instead? Is expectation a waste of time?

Recently I have connected myself to the insides of my eyelids and its working out alright

    Connect to the moment.

One of the most profoundly serene moments in my life was getting my heart shattered by a girl. I told that story before. I expected to hear something I had already planted in my mind but was instead completely shocked and twisted by what she told me. I could literally feel the world spin around me. I was the center of the universe at that moment. She is now married to my cousin and I'm glad about that.

I don't know how but it was. I stopped hearing what she said and was completely captured by the moment. I went "Oh shit, that's what it feels like". It honestly didn't feel bad to me. Just very intense. Very calm and introvertly focused. It put a genuine smile on my face.

That's like on tv when someone gets told something and the audio cuts off and you just hear a ringing and the camera zooms in on them. I don't recall that ever happening to me. How can I manufacture this situation?

I’ve had about 3 of those “serene” moments in my life. They usually come with an epiphany.

That's how it felt like. I don't know how to introduce it. Maybe I'm just such a pop-cultury faggot that my mind was like "This is how you're supposed to react".
