Obviously it happens, I'd just like to know the odds, and then compare them to something else that has much higher odds that we never even consider defending ourselves against. :)

Could I have been wrong, of course, I guess I'm just throwing it out there that most burglaries and home invasions rarely happen when the homeowners are home, and when they do, sure, by all means have all the guns you want to defend yourself. Why the fuck would I care?
If stare means what he says, that you just want to be prepared for anything, then you should actually WANT to know those statistics I asked about so youd know the odds, and like I said, if you wanna be prepared for a home invasion, then you probably would wanna be prepared for all the things that are just as likely to happen, if you're being sincere. Also shotguns are pretty big for handling inside the confines of a home where you might have areas where there isn't enough room to swing that big fucker round properly. That half a second extra time it takes you to maneuver that thing into firing position could make all the difference.

i can argue that most people dont have 20-30 yards between one wall of their house and the other. you dont really need a gun thats effective @ 30 yards in your little 900 square feet apartment.
also when and if eventually you ran out of all ammo, that 2-3kg of solid wood and steel in your hand too, could make a difference. -
