I like bunsenlabs, used to be called crunchbang

basic tint/openbox setup, which is more or less what I typically set up on base debian installs anyway

What are you looking for? OpenBox is pretty dope as far as window managers go. It may please you to know that that MS PowerShell and Visual Studio Code run on Ubuntu as well, i installed makensis so i can bang out windows installers (.exe) natively. As in on my ubuntu distro, if you install the plugin for NSI/NSIS in VS Code that would be ideal. Also, as text editor i use Geany, i also have Rstudio, for R and like i said PowerShell runs on Ubuntu, so i have that too. Guake drop down terminal is dope, keybind it on F1 for easy access.

Wine helps you play games if you're into that, but the Open source *Nix Gaming scene is pretty dope actually. I also run QEMU for virtualization, it's heavy on the command line side with libvirt and all that, but if you get virt-manager, it basically works as VMware. Failing that you can get actual VMware or VirtualBox, but VirtualBox is gay, imho, i know that's an unpopular opinion but whatever.

    HTS highlight reel
There's this crazy new OS called "Windows 10". You should try that instead of using some poverty-tier freeware OS.

Then I have things like slack, trello, spotify. I need a screenshot uploader that can capture parts of the screen, any recommendations? Or anything I may be missing

I got ImageMagick, GIMP and ScreenShooter for Ubuntu for screenshots, check this link if you wanna do some comparing. You might also just want to install virtualenv for Python to keep your dev environment sorted.
