Are you trying to argue that what I am doing is like voting, as my ballot won't sway the election, but the time it takes to vote will be wasted?
Or that it's like complaining about the government being wasteful in a particular instance? The cost to me for their waste is tiny, as I am just one taxpayer amongst millions, while the cost of kicking up a fuss is relatively high in comparison.

OK, well you're making the assumption that you are an atomic being on its own out in the universe and that your awareness is your own and the only thing that really matters, and that your awareness is itself atomic, unique, unchangeable (until it goes away with death), and irreproducible.
And I see myself more as a bunch of genetics and my awareness is a result of those genetics, and also my awareness changes over time (who I was at 5, 15, 25, etc. is dead, I regard myself as a new creature), I believe that those who are similar to me feel like I do, and I also believe that my awareness can come back pretty much like it is in the future as well.
So it's more to do with a fundamental difference in how we perceive reality. -
