Same thing applies to rockets, which is why so many people don't believe in the moon landing, but if I was able to get to all these different places on earth in a plane there's no reason someone couldn't get to the moon by rocket.
I was going to point out that the priciples involved in space flight are quite different from fixed wing flight in atmosphere but then I was like "well that wasn't really what he meant" but then I was like "yeah, but the logic still doesn't really work because intercontinental flight doesn't really have much experential relevance to space flight" but then I was like "but I mean who really cares?" and now I'm like "why the fuck am I bothering to write this comment? This is stupid and I should stop" and that's how we got here. -

Haven't you ever been on a plane and been like "this is stupid, no way this shit is going to take off" and next thing you know you're up in the clouds?
If you told someone who had never heard of a plane that you were in one they'd think you were crazy. It's psychologically the same.
TBH I'm weirded out by all long distance forms of travel. Trains are weird cos the idea of having a piece of iron longer than you could possibly walk is ridiculous. Same thing for optical fibres and telephone lines. Even my car is really weird when I think about it. -

This is the case no matter how many planes I watch taking off. -
