I dice up an onion and 4 cloves of garlic and throw it all in a slow cooker along with a kielbasa and a drained can/jar/bag of sauerkraut, a big pinch of 'unwashed' poppy seeds, and pepper to taste, and I cook it on low for five hours, stirring occasionally.
then I feast.
a loaf of pumpernickel and a light lager makes it even better.

^even though you're a lil bitch i have to agree with you i love sauerkraut. Just ate some a lil while ago. I plan on making my own hot dog stand called "Bill Krozby dogs" with assorted dogs, but the special "Bill Krozby dog" is sauerkraut , mayo, bacon peices, purple onion, on a sheboigan weiner. with a lil spicy sauce/mustard. But instead off adding poppy seeds, I'd just use poppy seed buns instead.
I cook my dogs in a pabst blue ribbon... mmmm mm good!
I'm even going to use my cat as the sign/mascot
this is the best thread I've posted in besides mine!
7/10 would post here again.

7/10?
the mere presence of saurkraut brings the metrics of this thread to at least 8/10, and my presence adds 2 points to anything, anywhere, ever.

Have you tried kimchi? It's divine with sliced corned beef cooked in a pressure cooker.

This thread inspired me to make some of what OP made yesterday, now I'm finishing the rest for breakfast, shit is delicious.

I have not tried kimchi but I would try it if it was in front of me.
If I dont drain the saurkraut, it is just swimming in liquid. I also feel like all the nutrients from the garlic and onions leaches into the water, which is just discarded anyway.

its like, dough balls with saurkraut and cottage cheese on it. It is a lot worse than it looks.
at christmas, we had to eat this stuff in order to open our presents

the dough balls get soaked with saurkraut juice, just thinking about it makes my throat close up, even all these years later,

kim chi is the shit man. my gf is korean and makes hella korean food all the time with kim chi in it. spicy kimchi soup with pork belly is amazing. so is fried kim chi with eggs and rice.
also, kim chi pancakes. its like a potato pancake (not really sweet) with kim chi and onion in it, then make a sauce with like 40% vinegar and 60% soy sauce and dip it in that.
also i just made your recipe again and ate it again because it was delicious (although i just cooked it in a pan for like 20 minutes instead of a slow cooker) and when i was at the store buying sauerkraut i asked my gf if she knows what it is and she said its like kim chi for white people, lol
