Anyone can go on youtube and learn to play some chords and after a few years make the same safe and boring crap that has been done a million times before.
What I'm doing is throwing out all the rules and notions of what is music and creating something based on sounds rather than structured rhythms and melodies.
I don't make music the way you think I do, the way I approach making music takes much more time and effort than that (and how you approach it as well).
I would spend entire days tweaking around, experimenting with my physical gear and software to find what I found to be the most interesting results, which is how musicians such as Trent Reznor approach music design as well.
Trent will record sessions of nothing but found sounds (like water pouring from a sink or him tinkering with random objects) and modular synth masturbation, the results of which you would foolishly describe as "non-music".

I own a monotribe, all the monotrons, a midi keyboard, did have an electric guitar.
My music isn't made with samples, it's made live I either hook my gear up and jam out live or do the same with Audiomuluch or mix the two.
How much I have spent is totally irrelevant.
How much did Throbbing Gristle spend on their gear, practically nothing (most of it was hand-made to boot) and look at what impact they have had on music.
