It feels like my whole life has been spent worrying. Get a good education - get a degree - get a job - get a gf.
Even the people who are ahead of me, their lives are just a series of crises and stress events. When they do better, they just stress about new shit.
It's like you climb one mountain, and there's another mountain right there in front of you. When does it stop?

It stops when you say "fuck it"

I never went to college. My parents never gave me advice. I key people's vehicles to vent.
Welcome to the real world.

Parental advice is pretty shitty tbhfam

Negative. Not sure how things work over there, but here in America we're all self-made men in a ruggedly meritocratic but fair economic system. Hard work and loyalty, that's how I got where I am in life! Thank goodness I live in such a fair and economically mobile capitalistic society as this.

Anyone I know who has tried anything special with their life has wound up miserable as a result.

Coot,
Yes, it is one crisis after another. I’m 52, and I’ve had my share. You get knocked down, ya get up, only to be knocked down again. The nice thing is that every crisis makes you better prepared to deal with the next. Eventually these crises just become a blip on the screen, then you are more capable of moving beyond them quickly!
Not sure it hurts ambitious people any more than anyone else.

Struggle creates character, or kills you.
