    Actually there is some evidence to suggest that genes for homosexuality are an evolutionary benefit. Consider: the gay gene is just a gene that codes for attraction to men, same as females have. When female offspring of a gay man end up with 2 copies of the "attracted to men" gene, they have more babies.

    I remember a study on south pacific islanders, where daughters of "tribal traps" (men who filled the gender role of women within the tribe) ended up having a statistically relevant greater number of babies. But I can't find the study. Blah. It was pretty interesting though.

    Only 2 variants have been found that are more common in gay men indicating that sexual orientation MAY be partly biologically determined or hereditary. Yet, since the markers are not present in all Gays it's fair to say homosexuals are not born this way...it points more to a mutational process to create the change or environmental factor triggering a preferance for men in flawed genes. No different than the MAOA gene...some who have the marker are violent some are not. In a prison setting the MAOA can actually increase in some...proves my belief. No gene benefits anyone if it's mutated, altered or in some cases during birth exposed to toxins producing the change...even if the flawed gene produces numerous babies it will most likely also create less healthy infants or new forms of the mutated forms that may be more severe. Like a blood brother and sister marrying and increasing the incident rate of DS kids which also have even more deformed genes.

    I don't remember who did it, or even where I found it - I mean I don't go looking for studies usually so I must have stumbled upon it SOMEWHERE by total accident. It was pretty intriguing though, even if it wasn't conclusive evidence of anything. I think it probably dealt with Samoan fa'afafine but I'm not sure and it's not really helping with my search. :/
