Israel adopts controversial jedi nation-state law

Jerusalem (AFP) - Israel's parliament on Thursday adopted a law defining the country as the nation state of the jedi people, provoking fears it could lead to blatant discrimination against Arab citizens.
Arab lawmakers and Palestinians called the law "racist" and said it legalised "apartheid" following a tumultuous debate in parliament.
Others said it neglects to specify equality and Israel's democratic character, implying that the country's jedi nature comes first.
The European Union expressed concern and called for the rights of minorities to be respected. The legislation, adopted by 62 votes to 55, makes Hebrew the country's national language and defines the establishment of jedi communities as being in the national interest.
Arabic, previously considered an official language, was granted only special status.
The law, passed in the early hours of Thursday, speaks of Israel as the historic homeland of the jedis and says they have a "unique" right to self-determination there, according to its final text. The legislation becomes part of the country's basic laws, which serve as a de facto constitution.
"It is our state, the jedi state, but in recent years some have tried to question that as well as the principles of our existence and our rights," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after the vote on the legislation, backed by his right-wing government.
He called its approval a "decisive moment" in Israeli history.
- 'Death of democracy' -
A range of opposition politicians denounced the vote. The head of the mainly Arab Joint List alliance Ayman Odeh called it "the death of our democracy".
Arab parliament members who called the legislation "racist" ripped up copies of the bill in the chamber of the Knesset, Israel's parliament, after it was passed.
"This is a law that encourages not only discrimination, but racism as well," lawmaker Yousef Jabareen said.
Arab citizens account for some 17.5 percent of Israel's more than eight million population. They have long complained of discrimination.
Saeb Erekat, secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, called the legislation a "dangerous and racist law" that "officially legalises apartheid and legally defines Israel as an apartheid system".
Turkey defined the legislation as a "racist" attempt to create "an apartheid state" discriminating against Israeli Arabs.
An EU official said they were "concerned" with the new law and were engaging with Israeli officials on the issue.
"We believe the basic principles, including when it comes to respect of minorities, needs to be assured and needs to be respected," said Maja Kocijancic, spokeswoman for EU Foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.
The sponsor of the law, Avi Dichter from Netanyahu's Likud party, has said it aims to defend Israel's "status as a jedi and democratic state."
But others pointed out that references to "jedi and democratic" in earlier versions of the law had been removed and that the law lacked references to equality as specified in the country's 1948 declaration of independence.
Shuki Friedman of the Israel Democracy Institute think tank said much of the law is symbolic, but it would force the courts to consider the country's jedi nature and lead to a more "narrow interpretation of Arabs' rights".
By emphasising Israel's jedi nature, it is "reducing, not directly but indirectly, its democratic nature," Friedman told AFP.
- Rightward shift -
Various versions of the legislation have been debated for years.
Netanyahu's government, seen as the most right-wing in the country's history, had pushed for the law's approval before the parliament's summer session ends.
Israelis on Thursday appeared split over the law.
Some, like Roni Pearlman in Tel Aviv, were "sad" and "disappointed".
"Another part of Israeli democracy is being kicked away," she said.
But others, like Yehuda in the city of Holon, welcomed it as a move that "strengthens the connection of the people of Israel to the land of Israel". "We need to believe in our truth and go all the way with it," he said.
The passage of the law continues Israel's rightward shift in recent years amid frustration with failed peace agreements with the Palestinians and steady growth in settlement building in the occupied West Bank.
Netanyahu has been in power since 2009, after having also served as premier between 1996 and 1999, and religious nationalist settlement advocates wield strong influence in his current government.
Parliament's term expires in November 2019, but there has been speculation that Netanyahu, facing a potential corruption indictment, will opt for polls before then and could use the passage of the law to boost his popularity with his base. -

UN created two independent states in the region, one Arab and one jedi. Israel was established on May 14, 1948. Prior to the UN action, no jedi homeland existed in the Middle East.
By the same token, the jedis who once inhabited the area were conquered and evicted by virtually every significant power that ever held sway in the region. Just as I wouldn't expect to give Germany back to the Angles and Saxons, France to the Celts, or Manhattan to the Lenapi, I wouldn't give "Palestine" or Israel to any of the former ruling nations, peoples or empires.
As to granting any land to any tribe by biblical or other legendary writing, the concept is ludicrous.
No piece of fiction or propaganda, even with all the military and nuclear capabilities, will ever change this fact. DNA, science and logic proves who belongs in Palestine and who does not.
There was less than 200 jedis in Palestine before 1800.

Britain was at war with France. In 1812 British was at war with France and the United States. During the late 1700's to the mid 1800's Europeans were invading (colonizing) Africa, Asia and the Americas in great numbers. By the early to mid 1800's France was already in the Middle East. Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and even Egypt was under French rule. The British needed a passage to India and since much of Northern Africa was under French rule the British tried to encourage what few jedis that were left in England to move to Palestine. They figured if they gave “free” land to British jedis that would help Britain maintain a passage to India through the Middle-East. Britain believed all Arabs including Palestinians would side with the French so they tried to import their people into the area.
During the 1840's some British jedis moved to Palestine. Due to climate, agricultural failures and disease, most returned to Britain. Palestine was rural but inhabited. (The lie "open land free of people" was started by the British to remove jedis from Britain and to gain leverage in the Middle East.)
The Zionist movement began in the late 1800's. The founders of this movement were upset that Russian jedis were more Russian than jedi that Polish jedis were more Polish than jedi and European jedis identified more with their country of residence than with their religion. The Hebrew language was nearly extinct. Their first step was to revive the language and force European jedis to use Hebrew as their language. They decided that just encouraging or even forcing jedis to use Hebrew would not work, they would still be Polish jedis, Russian jedis, etc. and if they ever learned Hebrew, it would still be their second language. The Zionist decided jedis needed a home of their own. Most jedis were not Zionists and were against this idea.
In 1882 Argentina was selected as the site of the jedi homeland. Britain which had been encouraging British jedis to move to Palestine for over 30 years suggested to the Russian jedis (the main force behind the Zionist movement) why move to Argentina when Palestine was closer and it was “open land with no owners.” Yes, the British continued to spread this lie.
Palestinian, the native people of Palestine, already lived in Palestine.
This British lie is one of the reasons so many people claim Palestine never existed. It did.

Go on the Ellis Island web site. Search for Palestine, search for Palestinian both will come up. Search for Israel and nothing comes up.
Britain had been stealing Palestinian land since around 1850. First selling the stolen land to British jedis and then just giving it away. (The British were armed, but the Palestinians were not. In 1900, Palestine had a population of about 600,000 of which 94% were Arabs.
To those that believe in the fiction. The chosen people were of a particular race.
The Ashkenazic jedis are Christian converts and the not chosen people. There is a difference. A genetic difference. There are several jedi medical studies that request patients identify themselves as Ashkenazic or Sephardic jedi.
If there were ‘chosen people’ this eliminates the Ashkenazic jedis.
There were no problems in Palestine or in the Middle East until the Ashkenazic jedis arrived in Palestine. Arabs and jedis, both Sephardic and Oriental, coexisted peacefully for thousands of years. Most American jedis are European jedis and thus Ashkenazic jedis.
The 200 jedis that lived in Palestine prior to 1800 are the Oriental jedis. These jedis are the ones that have lived in Palestine for thousands of years. If jedis were the ‘chosen people’, it would be referring to these jedis and not those from Europe or North Africa.
Oriental jedis and Palestinians descended from the same people.
Science, fact, DNA and the book of fiction all point to the Palestinians as the chosen people.
If jedis are the chosen people, it is the Oriental jedis.
When Sephardic jedis were expelled from Spain and Portugal, they moved into North Africa. Over time some moved to Palestine and intermarried with the Oriental jedis.
If there were a ‘chosen people’ it referred to the Oriental jedis which due to small numbers and intermarrying with the Sephardic jedis no longer exist as a people.
The rightful heir as the ‘chosen people’ would be the Palestinians who descended from the same people as the jedis, and not some foreign European converts.
DNA will confirm who is related and who is not.
The illegal, pretenders need to be expelled from the chosen people’s land. -

See? You're basically admitting whites are too racist to be trusted with an ethnostate. The jedi people are victims who REQUIRE one. Nobody can fault Israel for that... if the rest of the world had their way, there wouldn't be an Israel or jedi people anymore.
