also isn't Ed Sheeran the guy getting sued? I listened to both songs over and over and can't even hear the lift and note patterns sounding the same. not to mention their in different keys.
that copyright law shit needs to be worked on. New Musicians need to be able to play the same riffs to make music. if it's clearly the exactly same lyrics much of the way through.. that's plaegerism. otherwise it's just the sad truth that there are only so many patterns of notes one can play before they're ran out. with millions of musicians over time, it's not fair to a new musician to have to pay some old ass cunt, crying that you stole their music. -

Yup, he's getting sued. Poor guy, he seems like a nice person, so I don't think he should be sued. -

I don't think he should be sued after checking into the songs. I heard a song today at work that started off exactly like my plauge from slipknot (a largely unknown band that was before slipknot, that had the same intro but went into a doom metal song) and my co-workers pointed that out and I agreed with them but we didn't feel like it was a rip off song. I write my own songs and lyrics and sometimes they sound like other songs and I don't realize it until later.
So much music has already been done that its hard to not come up with similar chord progressions and music arrangement.
seems like der juden is at it again...
plus you'd to sue him you'd have to prove it in court that he didn't think of it himself.
take the jesus and marychain they used the same chord progression but on different frets for multiple songs, but people have used that chord progression before jamc and after but with different lyrics and it makes the song different in my opinion.
