Are there infinite dimensions?

The thread would seem to be about the actual world (asking "are"/"is" something the case, on a natural reading, would seem to be asking if it's the case in actuality). Are there infinite dimensions in a world where the fourth dimension is somehow the same thing as consciousness? Fuck if I know, I don't really believe that sentence even has any meaning. But I do know it does nothing to address the question of the appropriate number of dimensions in a model of physical space nor, for that matter, to clarify anyone's opinions about anything.

I've decided in my next inevitable criminal proceeding I'm going to use infinite dimensions as my defense.

You can't PROVE I wasn't, or you weren't, in a different dimension at the time of this supposed crime, so who's to say any of this is real? PROVE WE WEREN'T IN DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS MOTHERFUCKER. YOU CAN'T. I rest my case. *gavel whack* Myself, you're free to go.

    Works for drugs too

Possession- We have come to accept as commonplace the notion that an OBJECT can be criminalized, but when you think about it, it's a weird concept. The 'mystically empowered object' becomes an 'outlaw', but of course, you can not punish an object… an object does not give a fuck, an object can not change its ways, an object has no 'ways'. So when outlaw objects are located, the State will instead attack, and in many cases, destroy the nearest, likely human being…. It's even stranger that 'plants' which are part of nature and precede law, can be outlawed… but there it is. It seems reasonable that the State can place limits on the 'actions of its citizens to preserve order…but is 'possession' (occupying adjacent space) an action? -too deep for POPeye

It would be pretty adorbzez to watch plants have little plant banks and court houses and movie theaters. I wonder what movies they'd like.

a universe where you are sploo

    That would be neat

    Are you sure?

How is "a 4th dimension" the same thing as consciousness?

Ok so let's say you have a perception, or a thought, right. That's one frame. The 3-d world around you and within you is included in/constitutes the frame.

If you have consciousness, or a stream of thoughts, there are continuous 3-d frames, 3-d perception becomes consciousness when time is taken into account, or 4-d.

A dimension in a metaphysical sense is mathematical, but in a physical sense, exponents of reality.

Sure, our consciousness does seem to be predicated on a progression of time. Time, however, is clearly not a sufficient condition for consciousness (the bunch of bananas sitting on my counter certainly have a temporal aspect, yet are not conscious) and I'm going to argue not a necessary condition (mathematical formalisms are, for the most part, time-independent. If you believe we can express consciousness in such formalisms which I think you think we can, and which I think we may be able to, then you would seem committed to the temporal independence of consciousness per se).

Do they? Are we projecting our own temporal aspect onto them?

The OP question could be rephrased as "We know we can percieve time, do we subconsciously percieve higher dimensions? Do they govern, or effect our behavior in some sense?

They would seem to. Sure we can doubt just about any aspect of an external world as colored by perception but I seem to have more evidence for the idea that bananas ripen in a mind independent way than against it. Anyone can perceive their ripening and they appear as if they ripen even in the absence of someone to perceive them (I don't watch them all day but somehow they still get riper). The thing is, every physical dimension is a partof consciousness. I'd say 1-D is binary, 2-D is a concept, 3-d is a perception, 4-d is WHAT WE THINK AS consciousness, as perceptions over time, but perhaps with the way the human mind works we actually percieve many more dimensions, which explains the experience of multidimensional entities on psychedelics.

But without perception there would be no such thing as a banana, there would only be quantum states. Perception makes a set out of certain quantum states and turns them into individual objects.

    *sigh*

Pseudo intellectual nonsense losely strung together as it seems to fit. Great.

If this is math, where's your equation? Where's your fundament?

If it's a spiritual thread or whatever, then I think, uhhh, maybe.

All you see and touch and hear and experience relies solely on an electronic signal passing between your brain and your body parts. One electron bumping the next. That's all it really is. "Matter" is simply something the signal tells you is so, but that doesn't really make it so. It's merely reaction, not cause.
