My Setup

So as only a few of you may know, I got kicked out of my apartment. Unfortunately where I moved too, I did not have Internet (at the time).
Now I have Internet, and not only on my laptop but also on my phone and other devices. My current setup is I'm running my old laptop HDD from a Tosihiba in a HewlettPackard laptop with 6GB RAMM, a dual-core 1.5gHz i5 processor. I'm running Windows 8.1 with a VMWare client inside of it running a Linux based OS. Using this Linux OS I proceeded to use Reaver to brute force attack my neighbor's router. After acquiring the code I spent several days just using my laptop. I grew annoyed, as using it caused my FB to get locked which could then only be unlocked from my iPhone which currently is deactivated. So then I'd have to walk twenty minutes across town, get WiFi, unlock my account, then make the twenty minute return trip home.
After getting tired of this I decided to use my laptop to make a hotspot. For some reason none of the standard programs worked for this so I turned to Command Prompt. By running it as an Administrator I was able to make my own private network to run off my laptop. Now I am able to lay in bed or be across the house and post, rather than have to stay within five feet of my bedroom window to get the WiFi on my laptop.
Simple process or not, I'm quite proud of myself for figuring it all out.

I suggest buying a cheap prepaid smartphone for less than $100, obtain root on it, then tether to your other devices. VirginMobile is only $35 a month.

As much as I'd like to do that SBT, I have. O source of income and I'm doing everything with shit I buy for the cheap off of friends or Craigslist.

What I'm going to do is crack just enough so that whenever I walk I have constant wifi. So when one runs out, another is already connecting.

I suggest getting a retail job. I just read an article that talked about how retail stores are having a hard time hiring because the job is undesirable(and they are).

What type of wifi are you cracking? I'm assuming WPA, because I rarely see WEP anymore. How long does it take to crack this kind of connection?

WPA2, and usually a few hours.

Well, unfortunately my laptop finally shit the bed. My friend however gave me 8 laptops and two PCs. I scavenged parts form a dumpster, finding yet another wireless networking card which I installed into the gaming PC. ASUS MoBo, 600W PSU, 2.66gHz Dual-Core Intel, 4GB RAM, Radeon 9400 Pro HD Graphics, and running Vista. For the other desktop, specs unknown, he is buying me a cheap inject compatible 802.11 wireless USB adapter. Updates to come.

How many dumpsters have you been inside in the last seven days?

The standard way of cracking wpa is to capture the handshake and then crack that offline, never done this, I think it would take more than a few hours. A lot of routers have wps enabled and people either don't disable it or the router won't let them (even if they think they have). If you use reaver with the "pixie dust" parameter or some shit (it's been a minute I forget exactly) you can crack wpa in a matter of minutes (under ideal conditions, and having wps is an absolute must) or a matter of a few hours. No idea what the pixie dust thing does, but just because it is wpa doesn't mean it can't be broken as easily as wep. Newer routers will timeout after a set amount of failed attempts, so this is pretty limited.

Just one, three different times. Found an old Dell Inspiron 1150 Latitude the other day. Screen is broken but is has an AMD processor, 250GB HDD.

Inspiring. I still haven't done any forensics on the hard-drive that was in the PC I found(I made a post on RDFRN about it).

If you get to the forensics and find anything interesting, i'd be willing to take any CP off your hands free of charge.
