It's only 2-3 hours from where I live. I went there as a kid with parents. never been back. Just can't understand why. it's a hikers paradise. about the same distance as Yosemite but Yosemites takes twice as long to to than this park because Yosemite has the high mountain switchbacks and slow drivers.
yet it has some breath taking trails. if you come to California, rent a car and go here. bring extra water in a backpack or a water filtration when you get to Bear Gulch at the top of the peaks is a giant lake of fresh water.
they film a lot of westerns and shit in this park.
