Theory on the Flat Earth Society's explosion

2018-06-16 at 12:26 PM UTCI propose that the momentus behind the Flat Earth theorists, and the reason they have gained so much support so quickly, is more of a knee-jerk reaction to the rapidly increasing speed at which scientific discoveries and theories are being formulated and accepted.
While the Flat Earth theory itself is a misguided premise, it lends itself hand-in-hand to the overarching disconnect between progress made and progress proven right now.
For instance, it has been widely proven and accepted that man has been to the moon for several decades now.

Hence the only remaining groups of oppositional thought tend to be small conspiracy groups that play into more complex theories of religious minority concepts or those that believe a small group of people can or are intentionally manipulating the goings-on of world affairs for personal benefit. I do not hold the latter opinions.
The multiverse theory and scope of the universe projections like to be touted as dominant theories and are treated as dearly as fact in recent years by the scientific community at large.
Where is the proof to back up these claims? Math. Is there any way to actually test this theory not now, but ever? No.
Flat Earthers represent Joe Schmoe seeing scientists trying to prove something without the proper scientific equipment to carry out sufficient tests and thinking now if I give you 3L of water today, you will eventually lose 3L's of water. When it goes in the mouth, I can't see how it happens, but I see something happen at the end.
In these new theories, he sees no attempts to prove, no process, and no result. 3 strikes and you're out.
The Earth is not flat, but modern era scientists are jumping to conclusions before they've finshed a complete thought. I think this movement represents a natural backpedal and a moment to review the current pace of progress before continuing. -

Then why is space travel all horizontal?. To go anywhere in the universe your apoapsis is going to be port and starboard unless you are 'upside down' in which case it would be fore/aft.
Either way you are not going to go 'north' from the north pole or 'south' from the south pole. Even the most distant star systems only take small incremental maneuvers of only a few degrees to get there. That's why satellites are so easy to launch anywhere because they only have to go one direction instead of 360° movement.
The only time you would have to be 'above' or 'below' the earth is to do some kind of fancy gravity slingshot to get yourself to Mars
(set up the apoapsis like this, start burning halfway through the orbit, fling yourself to the moon and do another slingshot towards mars and you will have enough velocity to make it there without using any fuel past this point)
The milky way is flat, the universe is flat. There are no galaxies above or below us -

Nothing really special. You would observe the stars moving in a roughly circular fashion every day, relative to you, because the earth is spinning and the axis of its spin passes through the magnetic poles (by definition)
