2015-07-28 at 8:57 PM UTCAnyone see this show? Am I alone in thinking this show is absolute garbage aimed at the bottom of the barrel as far as intelligence goes?
The show features some weird looking dude, Benedict Cumberbatch is his name I believe, who is supposed to be super smart and a really good detective, but the way they go about portraying him as smart just makes me think this show was made for stupid people. The dude just walks into the room with an air of "i already know everything and am never wrong" and kind of cocky and weird, and immediately just deduces exactly what happened at the crime scene.
It's funny because anyone who's ever been around someone who's smart or knows a lot about a subject knows that smart people aren't like that. They are smart because they have a lot of experience and have taken the time to learn whatever it is they are good at. But to dumbasses who don't do or know shit, it probably just looks like they are pulling information out of thin air, like sherlock does on the show. -

2018-06-13 at 12:44 PM UTCIf you read the Sherlock Holmes novels that's exactly how he is in them, a know all smartass...it would therefore follow the TV show would portray him the same way.

I was about to say the same. Sherlock is cocky and a bit arrogant, if you like.
However, he isn't good at investigating just because. Yes, he's very smart but he studies and does experiments (all sorts) as well. But his best quality is observation.
As for the BBC Series, I love the first 2 seasons but the 3rd started to go down south. Mainly, IMO, because they introduced Mary and made her relevant, which she is not in the books. I stopped watching after the 3rd, but I'm told the 4rth season was even worse.
Anyway, I prefer the old ITV series more. Sherlock there is the classic one from the books. -
2018-06-13 at 12:52 PM UTCSame, I only watched the first 2 series.

You, of all people, should know that nobody likes a know-it-all smartass.

More? I thought they were done with 4. The reviews were terrible for the 4rth season.
Used to like Top Gear. It's been ages since I last watched it though. -
