   Seems they have only offered standard cab or "crew"/"mega" cabs the last generation or so ( no ext. cabs) . Now their site only shows crew/quad cab available ( which is a 4 door truck or a more-spacious/deeper 4 door truck ) and no standard cab. And you can get a 5'7" or 6'4" box...
   
   Embarrassing, they used to make a Dakota with a longer bed than that.

   I've noticed this trend too. The manufacturers seem to be 86'ing the ext. cabs and pushing everyone into the crew or mega cabs. And they are comfy as hell, not quite as much as like a Tahoe, but pretty damn close.
   
   What about a long box standard? I know people who were hesitant but swear by 'em now. Harder to park in cities but, c'mon who cares?

   How do you feel about these v6 EcoBoost enignes? Lotsa people say they got plenty of power but I'm thinking they gotta burn up faster than a V8.

   i have a '14 chevy 2d work truck with the 4.3 v6 and no complaints at all, it's towed some big shit when it needed to but if i were a landscaper or something towing all day every day would go with the v8

    I like the idea of the full-length box to haul normal sized materials with the gate up, and the extended cab to save a bit of overall length but still have some room to recline and store jackets etc behind seats. Chevy and Dodge both seem to just offer standard cab and two different depths of 4 door trucks, Ford Superduty still does standard, extended, or 4 door. Hmm, that might actually be a good youtube or blog idea - test-driving all of the different cab and box configurations of the different manufacturers and comparing the lengths,wheelbases, cabin space, turning radii etc.
    
    I think the EcoBoost stuff is cool, I would consider it on a half-ton since they ought to have had enough time to work out any kinks by now. Turbo diesel is even cooler though - interestingly Chevy now builds a "Baby Duramax" which they offer in the Express Van and I think the Colorado as well, I guess Ram does an "Eco Diesel" and Ford has a mini powerstroke for the f150.
    
    I also think the "euro" style cargo vans are awesome for being able to stand up inside , but the styling is pretty fugly and they have little motors and poor towing capacity. I don't get why they don't build something like that with a fullsize motor and some real towing capacity, maybe even with good styling like the last generation Econoline.
    
    Also, none of the fullsize American vans every had factory 4x4, lol WTF? Finally, Mercedes/Freightliner sprinter vans introduced a factory 4x4 option (modelyear 2017 I think) and have a high roof but of course they don't have any particularly powerful motor options, or able to tow above 7500 pounds..
    
    
    Also the emissions systems on modern diesels terrify me because they seem to have stricter requirements all of the time so it's like they are constantly being redesigned and never have time to work out the bugs.
