2015-10-23 at 3:25 PM UTCStarted listening to punk again lately, found this gem thanks to a buddy of mine singing it during our shop class.
The band doesn't do Ska-Punk like this all the time but I definitely like the song.

2015-10-23 at 3:48 PM UTCunfortunately those days are gone. the days where people devoted time to things that interest them and to find things they like. now everyone is an adult meaning you have to worry about nothing except finances, kids, bullshit, and dont have time to like your own things so its just so much simpler to like what everyone else likes so that your chances of procreating go up

2015-10-26 at 7:26 AM UTCRevival-era emo has always been my prefered brand of punk/post-punk. Snowing, TWIABP, Marietta (personal favorite).
I made a thread about talking heads lately, I know they're not really punk in the purest sense but they more punk (the kind of punk I give a shit about) than the fucking sex pistols, that's for sure. -

Fuck the Sex Pistols. Less Than Jake, Rancid, Choking Victim, bands like that are my favorites. -

CV is a classic. I assume you've listened to Leftover Crack and Starfucking Hipsters?
I have mixed feelings about third wave ska/ska punk ala Less Than Jake. Some great hooks although the fanbase can be unabashed douchebags (not that that's a reason to dislike the music, but I still think it borders on being too poppy (as an aside I once basically memorized the lyrics to every aquabats song to move in with a girl (as a roommate) and subsequently get in her pants)), BUT my favorite pick from that genre is Planet Smashers:

That's post-hardcore. You may like At The Drive-In and Glassjaw as well. They are not that technical though. You may also like The Fall of Troy which is also technical. You will also like Dance Gavin Dance. -
2015-11-06 at 12:02 PM UTCI do like ATDI; one-armed scissor is one of those tracks that always reminds me of high school... wasn't all that interested in glassjaw from memory. I'll check the others out

2015-11-07 at 1:35 AM UTCYou should listen to Glassjaw's Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence.. their 2002 record sounds different as opposed to the first one, which has a more similar sound to ATDI, so you might like that album. For The Fall of Troy, I suggest you listen to Doppelganger (album) and for Dance Gavin Dance I suggest you listen to Downtown Battle Mountain from 2007.
Here let me help you out.

The Fall of Troy - F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. (2005)

Dance Gavin Dance - And I Told Them I Invented Times New Roman (2007)

DGD's Downtown Battle Mountain (referred to as DBM) is one of my all-time favorite albums. -
2015-11-13 at 6:17 PM UTCFoT's Doppelganger was a little "scene-y" for me but I have to admit it was fabulously consistent and well put together.

2015-11-18 at 2:54 PM UTCI can imagine how scene-y it was back in the day. I haven't jammed that record in a long time. I should go do that once I am relieved of all my duties.
